CQU arts educators feature in ‘Neighbourhood’ exhibition

The artistic talents of some of CQUniversity’s visual arts and digital media teachers are currently on display in an exhibition at The Rockhampton Museum of Art (RMOA).

The exhibition: ‘Neighbourhood’, curated by Shanna Muston, includes works by current visual arts and digital media teachers Pat Connor and Hanbing (Lucy) Lu, as well as works by past Central Queensland TAFE teacher Peter Indans, Pat’s former colleague, who passed away in 2011.

Neighbourhood comprises a selection of works from the RMOA collection that reveal connections with the Central Queensland region. 

Exploring community, connection and local landscapes, people and stories, the exhibition celebrates the unique, broad and wonderful neighbourhood of this part of the world.

Neighbourhood, considers the commonalities that unite us and encourages viewers to consider the reciprocity, friendship and safety that builds by forming strong communities through connection.

The exhibition also includes several local artists who have been trained by CQTAFE and CQUni visual art educators, highlighting important ways in which people develop enduring connections to both people and place.

The exhibition is free and runs until the 14 February 2027, in the Collection Gallery 2.1.
