Fitness course serves up countless opportunities for Phoebe

Phoebe Cahill has gone from the tennis court to the classroom, using CQUniversity’s Fitness courses to serve up new career opportunities.
The 18-year-old decided to study the Certificate in III after several years working as a tennis coach for school students of all ages and abilities.
“Working and having a strong background in sport, motivated me to explore the fitness industry more,” she said.
“I was always curious of what it would be like to work in a gym environment as a fitness instructor. Growing up in tennis, I was exposed to this environment multiple times and always had positive interactions with my strength and conditioning coaches.”
Only a month into the course, Phoebe was excited to get into study.
“I have only recently begun my studies at CQU as of last month. I am yet to complete my first practical block, but I’m really looking forward to it,” she said.
“Once I complete my Certificate III, I hope to work as a fitness instructor in a gym (hopefully down south), as I plan to move for university next year.
“I am also interested in continuing my studies to gain my Certificate IV in Fitness down the line.”
Phoebe recommended CQU’s Fitness course to anyone considering a move into the industry.
“I would definitely say the people and atmosphere are what makes the industry so exciting. Everyone is so welcoming and inspiring,” she said.
“I also love how the people around you can be so motivating when you don’t feel like conquering your fitness goals on your own. There is also so much room to grow and learn, as a student or instructor.”
