CQUniversity’s partnerships with three universities in Japan have been strengthened with 57 students recently visiting the Brisbane and Cairns campuses on a series of study tours.
The students, from Miyagi University of Education, Meikai University and Kobe University, visited in three separate study tours, participating in English language classes, immersive cultural activities and experiencing hospitality while staying at their homestay accommodation.
At Cairns campus, 24 Miyagi University of Education students undertook programs with an educational focus, while in Brisbane, 19 students from Meikai University learned about the English language and 14 Kobe University students learned about environment and sustainability.
The study tour groups were exposed to various activities. In Cairns, the students visited the Cairns Museum, Aquarium and Green Island, while the Brisbane-based tours attended the CBD, Lone Pine Sanctuary, Moreton Island and engaged with the Nundah Co-operative.
CQUniversity Partnerships and Mobility Coordinator Dominic de Moura McCarthy said the study tours “highlighted the strength of our international partnerships and the value of combining classroom learning with real-world engagement”.
“It has been fantastic to welcome our Japanese partners to campus and see students fully immersed in both English language learning and the Australian cultural experience,” he added.
“The tours strengthen the people-to-people connections between Australia and Japan, deepens potential academic collaboration, promotes ongoing exchange, mobility and joint initiatives and contributes to broader education diplomacy and cultural exchange.”
