Minka scores a double world cup honour

Bundaberg local Minka Elliott is set to represent Australia on the world stage by competing at two Masters Hockey World Cups in 2026.
The passionate athlete will travel to Nottingham, UK next month for the Masters Indoor World Cup before attending the Masters Outdoor World Cup in the Netherlands during July and August.
Minka said competing in these tournaments will offer her an incredible chance to play at an elite level, engage with athletes from across the globe, and showcase the strength of Australian hockey.
She will compete in the 40s Australian Women’s Indoor Team and the 35s Australian IMC Team (Outdoor).
“Being chosen to represent Australia in both the indoor and outdoor Masters Hockey World Cup teams within the same year is truly a privilege,” Minka said.
“This sport has not only shaped who I am as a player, but also as a person, and I’m eager to inspire others by sharing my journey, proving that age is simply a number and your passion for a sport can continue no matter how old you are."
Minka also balances her hockey commitments with a CQUniversity, where she works as Business Manager (Strategy and International Operations).
“My hockey achievements mean a lot to me as they reflect the effort and dedication I’ve put into the sport over the years,” she said.
"This will be my first time wearing the green and gold for Masters hockey."
Participation in international Masters tournaments is largely self-funded, with athletes responsible for travel, accommodation, uniforms and competition costs.
To help make her dual World Cup campaign possible, Minka has launched a fundraising initiative through the Australian Sports Foundation, providing supporters with a tax-deductible way to contribute to her journey.
