Justin’s academic excellence earns him a CQUEnglish Scholarship

Dedication and drive have earned CQUniversity Sydney student Sy Lam Anh Tran (Justin) a prestigious CQUEnglish Scholarship and given him the determination to continue his study journey.
The CQUEnglish Scholarship is awarded to outstanding students based on their English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) scores, main university academic performance, and alignment with CQUniversity's core values of Engagement, Can Do, Openness, Leadership, Inclusiveness (ECOLI).
Justin was presented with his $3000 scholarship by CQU Sydney Academic Manager Nikola Mitic during a ceremony on 30 January.
Justin began his journey with CQU by undertaking the English for Academic Purposes 1 (EAP1) course where he stood out as an excellent student – so much so that he quickly progressed into EAP2.
Soon after, he took on the role of Student Ambassador and worked closely with CQU’s SPOT and International Recruitment teams to support other students.
His passion and talent led to Justin enrolling in the Master of Information Systems, achieving a high academic achievement.
Justin was very grateful for the scholarship and highlighted how CQU’s English for Academic Purposes set him on an exciting path.
"From the beginning of EAP2, I received tremendous support from my dedicated teachers, Nikola and Svitlana, who guided me through challenging situations and taught me valuable lessons,” he said.
“I am deeply grateful to them and honoured to receive this invaluable award. Finally, I hope to achieve even greater things in the future.
"EAP2 is the stepping stone for all students. Throughout this course, I improved my academic writing and listening skills, and I also developed my shorthand skills.
"In addition, I remember attending many workshops, discussing a range of topics, and exploring new knowledge. Moreover, the excursions we went on introduced me to the local culture.”
