Maylee hopes to give something back in role with BlueCare

Having been raised by her grandparents, Maylee Davis is eager to give back to the Emerald community as a personal carer for BlueCare when she completes her training at CQUniversity.
Maylee will receive her Certificate III in Individual Support when she graduates in December, with the skills and knowledge she’s acquired already helping her secure employment in the aged care sector.
“I was super surprised (to get the job) at first, as I had been a full-time mum and cleaner,” she said.
“I chose (to study) individual support in aged care, as it's always been something I have been passionate about. As my grandparents basically raised myself and sister. So I went into this course, with hope I'd better my life and my family’s.”
Maylee said she undertook a work integrated learning placement with BlueCare while she was studying, with her dedication ultimately leading to an offer of employment.
She said she was excited about the new job and further opportunities.
“I would love to do further study in the mental health field in the future,” she said.
Maylee completed the training as part of the Queensland Department of Trade, Employment and Training’s Rural and Remote Pilot program.
A BlueCare spokesperson said: "Providing opportunities for trainees and interns at BlueCare is an investment in the future of care.”
“It builds their understanding of the sector, the people we support, and the heart of person-centred care—while helping to grow the next generation of compassionate, skilled professionals."
