The sky is the limit for CQUniversity’s The Bachelor of Aviation students who celebrated their achievements at the Melbourne graduation ceremony.

Having completed academic learning, advanced simulator training and practical flying experience, the new aviation graduates are prepared to take on roles across commercial aviation, flight operations and aviation management.

Six Bachelor of Aviation graduates attended the Melbourne ceremony including Joshua Davis, Macey Charles, Daniel Salazar Melo, Jimmy Vuong, Christopher George and Abiela Walker.

Abiela Walker was awarded the 2024 School Medal for Engineering and Technology. School Medals are awarded to the graduating student with the highest academic achievement in a bachelor degree program.

"I have always loved flying. No day is the same," Abiela said.

"I am excited to go into my first flying role and eventually I would like to fly for border force."

Joshua Davis said his studies provided unique opportunities, experiences and connection that went well beyond the classroom.

“I was reflecting after the ceremony and felt so incredibly grateful and privileged for my experiences at CQU, especially the amazing opportunities we were given as part of our aviation studies,” he said.

“I was lucky to have such an enthusiastic, supportive and dedicated cohort. Our little group attended all of the online lectures together, unless we were flying of course! We worked together on group projects, kept in touch weekly and generally supported each other throughout the three years.

“We were even lucky enough to have flown around Australia together, on ‘Air Safaris’ with our flight schools. Whilst my degree will open some doors, it is the life lessons, experiences and friendships made along the way that mean the most to me.”

Joshua also credited CQU’s aviation in equipping graduates with not only technical skills but also the real-world experience required to succeed.

“We have had some of the best teachers in Aviation you could possibly ask for with the highest calibre and level of dedication from lecturers.

“I was blown away by the opportunity to meet and discuss important aviation topics with the people who have experienced it firsthand.”
