A CQUniversity Molecular Microbiologist has today been officially appointed to the Australian Research Council (ARC) College of Experts.

The ARC College of Experts plays an important role in identifying research excellence, moderating external assessments of research grant proposals and recommending projects to be funded.

Professor Dana Stanley joins 122 new members appointed to the ARC College of Experts in 2025, bringing the total number of members to 376.

ARC Acting Chief Executive Officer Dr Richard Johnson said the new members would ensure the continuing effectiveness of the ARC in supporting a vibrant and innovative research sector to deliver significant outcomes for everyday Australians.

“I welcome the new members to the ARC College of Experts, who with existing members ensure diversity across disciplines, gender balance, and representation from small and large Australian universities,” Dr Johnson said.

Professor Stanley said she felt incredibly honoured to join the ARC College of Experts in 2025.

“What a great honour it is to be selected to join the ARC College of Experts,” Prof Stanley said.

“This opportunity will not only allow me to play a part in identifying some of the potentially ground-breaking research projects of the future, but it will also provide me with a chance to meet colleagues from other universities and build new academic networks,” she said.

Prof Stanley leads CQUniversity’s Molecular Microbiology and Poultry Health research cluster in the Institute for Future Farming Systems, focusing on human and livestock intestinal health and nutrition, probiotics, next-generation antibiotics development, and pathogen control.

She has a number of research projects currently underway, with the majority of her publications being listed in the world’s top 10 per cent journals and among one per cent most cited in the world.

Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Nick Klomp said he was thrilled to see this excelling CQUniversity researcher newly appointed to the ARC College of Experts.

“The research expertise at CQUniversity is exceptional and I’m delighted to see Professor Stanley be appointed to the ARC College of Experts,” Professor Klomp said.

“Her contribution will not only benefit the ARC, but the broader CQUniversity and Australian research communities.”

ARC College of Experts nominations are called for annually, with appointments for a three-year term.
