CQUniversity one of the top 500 unis in the world
CQUniversity is now recognised as one of the top 500 universities in the world following the release of the latest QS World University Rankings: overall.
The University has increased its world standing by almost 100 places, leaping up the rankings from 590th position last year, to number 495 in 2025.
Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Nick Klomp said it was great to see the University continue to climb in rankings across the board.
“Our continued climb up the rankings ladder is a testament to our world-class learning and teaching models and the research we are conducting that has impact,” Professor Klomp said.
This year’s rank is CQUniversity’s highest ever in the internationally recognised and highly trusted QS World University Rankings.
“QS evaluated 5663 institutions worldwide to determine these rankings, so to be in the top 500 speaks volumes about our growth as a world-class institution,” Professor Klomp said.
“This result is a significant milestone in CQUniversity’s journey to become Australia’s most student-centred university. The hard work we are putting in now, is not just contributing to an increase in our rankings, but it is also having tremendous impact on the communities in which we serve.”
CQUniversity is the second-highest ranked Regional University Network (RUN) university, fifth in Queensland and 28th in Australia.
QS bases its internationally recognised ranking system on universities’ research outputs, international staff and student ratios, and global reputation among academics and employers.
The QS result is the latest of many recent university rankings in which CQUniversity has performed well including recognition for its sustainability and impact credentials and consistently outperforming other universities when it comes to graduate outcomes.
Within the past month CQUniversity has achieved strong results in the Graduate Outcome Survey (GOS) and Employer Satisfaction Survey (ESS).
