CQUniversity staff and alumni are warming up their vocal cords in preparation for a tribute performance honouring the late operatic tenor Luciano Pavarotti next month.

‘Viva Pavarotti’ will he held on Friday, 26 April at CQUniversity’s Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music (CQCM).

The performance will bring Pavarotti's music to Mackay audiences, led by Bachelor of Theatre graduates Paul Tabone, alongside Isabella Davison and Jameson Butler.

CQCM director Professor Judith Brown AM will be supporting the talented singers on piano.

Professor Brown said the performance not only showcases the immense talent of regional Queensland, but also serves as a testament to the university's commitment to fostering artistic excellence.

"As an international opera sensation, Paul Tabone exemplifies the calibre of and the global impact of CQU graduates in the arts,” she said.

"Performing alongside fellow CQCM graduates Isabella and Jameson showcases our commitment to nurturing emerging artists and contributing to the vibrant arts community.

“We are thrilled to support him in this special tribute to show.”

‘Viva Pavarotti’ will include performances of some of Pavarotti's most beloved arias, as well as a look back at his remarkable career and enduring impact on the world of classical music.

Opera enthusiasts and music aficionados can expect to hear classic arias such as Nessun Dorma, Maria, Torna Surriento, O Sole Mio and more.
