Higher Education Loan Programme (HELP)
The Australian Government provides financial assistance to students through the Higher Education Loan Program (HELP)Â which removes up-front cost barriers to tertiary education by providing income contingent loans.
There are four types of HELP loans available to students:
HECS-HELP - Eligible students enrolled in a Commonwealth supported place can access a HECS-HELP loan to pay their student contribution amount, providing they meet all of the eligibility requirements.
FEE-HELP - Eligible students enrolled in full fee paying places at approved higher education institutions may access a FEE-HELP loan to pay their tuition fees, providing they meet all the eligibility requirements.
OS-HELP - Eligible students enrolled in an undergraduate Commonwealth supported place can access an OS-HELP loan to pay some of their overseas study expenses, providing they meet all the eligibility requirements.
SA-HELP - Eligible students can access a SA-HELP loan to pay their student services and amenities fee providing they meet all the eligibility requirements
Eligible students are Australian citizens, permanent humanitarian visa holders and New Zealand Special Category Visa holders who meet the long-term residency requirements.
