Want to help out and collect seagrass flowers? Register for one of our collection events using the links below. Places are limited so be sure to register today!

Where

South End, Curtis Island, Gladstone (via Curtis Ferry Service). Meeting time is 7:30 am at the Curtis Ferry Service. You’ll come back on the afternoon ferry service, usually around 4:00 pm.

What do I need to bring

Long sleeve shirt and pants, sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses), water bottle, shoes/wet suit boots that can get wet (and muddy) and your best flower spotters.

There is time on the island to explore and for lunch if you wish.

What do I do? What to expect?

Head on down to the meeting point at Curtis Ferry Service! Our CMERC team  of scientists will meet you there. On the ferry ride over CMERC scientists will deliver a talk and give you an introduction to seagrass and flower collection. Numbers are limited on the ferry, and tickets are free for registered volunteers so please be sure to register.

When you arrive at Curtis Island, there will be time to look around, grab a bite to eat and prepare for the picking!

Our scientists will meet back up with you at the designated time and will be on-hand throughout the day to answer any of your questions.

Please note: This activity involves moderate physical effort in a tidal environment. If you have any questions or concerns, contact us.
