Podiatry

Podiatrists are health professionals who prevent, diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate medical and surgical conditions of the feet and lower limbs.

Skin and nail problems is something podiatrists will see regularly, some of the common things we can treat are:

  • Hyperkeratosis and heloma durum’s – these are also known as callus and corns
  • Nail Pathologies – including thickened or fungal nails
  • Warts – also known as verruca
  • Ingrown nails –There are many treatment options for ingrown nails which include conservative treatments, nail bracing right through to more invasive procedures such as nail surgery.
For some people, neurological and/or vascular testing are assessments that we can perform to further understand how the nerves are functioning or how well someone's blood flow may be to their feet. These are commonly performed in diabetic foot checks, or people with other complex medical conditions or have other risks for disease to their lower legs such as smoking. These assessments include using specialised equipment such as doppler ultrasounds and photoplethysmogram’s to detect blood flow and a range of different functional testing for sensation and function of the nervous system.
