Downer may sponsor eligible employees to study at CQUniversity. Get started by speaking with your supervisor about your career and study goals, then contact your Corporate Training Solutions representative via cts-enquiries@cqu.edu.au.
Begin your Downer career with trades training and apprenticeships. You can complete your apprenticeship full time, part time or school-based. Gain a nationally-recognised qualification and become a qualified tradesperson within three to four years.
Become an engineering associate, engineering technologist or professional engineer. Make your next career move with a CQU qualification and a Downer trades practice pathway, cadetship or graduate program.
Your CQU TAFE or university qualification is designed to give you real, job-ready capability through project-based and hands‑on learning. You’ll strengthen your skills and become familiar with industry tools and methods from day one.
If you’re completing a trade apprenticeship, your training includes scheduled practical blocks at CQUniversity’s regional Queensland campuses (availability varies by qualification). For university courses, residential schools and work‑integrated learning support your classroom knowledge, regardless of whether you study online or on campus.
CQUniversity offers the flexibility to study online, on campus or a mix of both across its regional network, ideal for fitting study around full-time work or shift patterns.
Whether you’re studying a TAFE or university course, you’ll have access to a wide support network. This includes confidential counselling, disability support, student advocacy, Indigenous student support, academic assistance, and scholarships and other financial assistance programs. Your local campus also offers library facilities, quiet study spaces and in‑person assistance.
As a CQU student you can access career development services to help you prepare for your next move. Whether aiming for a promotion or a change, get neutral, professional advice including proofreading support for your next job application or CV, feedback to help you prepare for a job interview, and career counselling.
