Blake’s career at Energy Queensland and Ergon Energy has spanned two decades, beginning in 2005 as a Regional Asset Engineer. Blake was appointed the Grid Transformation Lead at Energy Queensland in 2025, leading the strategy to transform the Energex and Ergon Energy networks into a Distribution System Operator (DSO). Blake’s previous role as the General Manager Design and Engineering saw him leading a team of over 550 staff in 36 locations across Queensland, and responsible for all lines, substations and civil design, engineering and associated systems. 

Blake is a Fellow and Chartered Member of Engineers Australia, and in 2014 was appointed as the Queensland Division President. He was named the 2009 Australian Graduate Electrical Power Engineer of the Year, received a high commendation from Engineers Australia as Young Queensland Professional Engineer of the Year in 2010, and a commendation on the AIM Rockhampton Young Manager of the Year in 2011. 

CQUniversity celebrated Blake’s outstanding achievements awarding him the CQUniversity 2014 Young Achiever Alumni Award. Blake has continued his close connection to CQUniversity since graduation through casual lecturing, organising and supervising engineering co-op placements and final year engineering thesis projects, and speaking on behalf of all alumni at the Investiture of CQUniversity’s Chancellor in 2016. He has been a valuable member of multiple committees, sharing his expertise in engineering and management.
