Before studying at CQUniversity, Jannette graduated as a psychologist in 1977 and commenced her career working in institutions for intellectually disabled adults. She then moved into a position as a clinical psychologist and later a team leader with Queensland Health.
In 1993, Jannette completed a Graduate Diploma in Management with CQU, which provided her with the skills required for a management role with Queensland Health.
After 30 years working for Queensland Health, Jannette worked another eight years as a clinical psychologist at a private practice before recently retiring.
