Higher Degree by Research

Although many research studies are now conducted online, Lorna enjoyed the face-to-face interaction when she was studying. She became good friends with her supervisor, and they remain in contact to this day.

Some of the most important things that Lorna learned from her supervisor were the limits of her capabilities and to keep at it – a good thesis is a finished thesis. The best advice that Lorna would give to future higher degree by research graduates herself is to "write, write, write, write - even if it’s 50 words - write, write, write."

Lorna is now a Professor and the Interim Dean of Graduate research at the University of Wollongong (UOW). In her role, she tries to emulate the positives of her PhD journey with CQUniversity to ensure that UOW students also have an enjoyable research degree experience.
