When Kevin McNulty left school in the 1970's he couldn't read or write. Starting with the STEPS program in 1995, Kevin continued on to complete an honours degree and is now a Senior Project Officer for the Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships. Kevin has also been volunteering with the AIME program since its inception.

After graduation, Kevin embarked on research projects with Darumbal Community Youth Services, Queensland Health and Queensland Education, before stepping into his current role. His goal to work as a support person for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth has been met, and Kevin mentors and tutors Indigenous youth in schools, sharing his knowledge and skills. He wants students to believe in what they want to be, chase their goals and never be scared to dream and do what they want to do in life.

Kevin's advice to students is to treat study like a 9 to 5 job, and never give up. Believe in yourself. And remember, the only thing that is stopping you in life is you.
