Maria began her postgraduate studies whilst working as a community clinician and forensic liaison for Queensland Health. She was interested in pursuing a career in education, and Queensland Health encouraged her to complete a masters degree. Maria found the Mental Health Nursing program offered by CQUniversity interesting and decided to go for it.
Maria's studies provided her with credentials and a platform to pursue education roles. She currently teaches part-time at the Queensland University of Technology and works as a nurse educator in her own counselling practice. Her job involves educating clinicians on mental health topics.
