Kate is an Aged Care Navigator at the Council on the Ageing (COTA) Queensland. After graduating in 2020, Kate began working as an aged care case manager and team leader full-time. She then heard about the COTA aged care navigator trial and secured a job with the organisation in the Cairns and Hinterland area.

Kate is responsible for targeting vulnerable and hard to reach people, building rapport, and assisting them in navigating, understanding, and accessing aged care services. Kate also delivers information sessions to community groups and at expos.

Before beginning her studies, Kate was a support worker and was keen to move ahead in her industry. She was encouraged by her supervisor to study as it would help advance her career. She chose CQUniversity as it had a good reputation and the flexibility to study online.

Kate feels her career has improved dramatically since gaining her Diploma. She found it easier to apply for and win jobs and has grown a lot in a short period of time.
