Dr Melinda Mann is a proud Darumbal woman and South Sea Islander. Melinda lives on her Darumbal homelands in Rockhampton, Central Queensland. She is an advocate for Indigenous Nation building, Pacific sovereignties, and regional and rural communities. 

Melinda has a background in student services, learning design, school and tertiary education, community organising and academic research. In 2019, Melinda was appointed to the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education and Training Advisory Committee (QATSIETAC) where she provides expert advice on school education to the Minister for Education and Training and Minister for Small Business and Training. She is also appointed as a First Nations community representative to the Queensland Gambling Community Benefit Fund. 

Melinda is a member of the Oceania Working Party for the Australian Dictionary of Biography and is a First Nations community representative on the AHPRA First Nations Cultural Safety Working Group. 

Melinda is the First Nations Art Officer at the Rockhampton Museum of Art with responsibilities ranging from education program design and delivery to First Nations governance, curatorial advice, community engagement and learning resources development. Melinda is currently also Senior Learning Designer and Lecturer for Cultural Competency within the Office of Indigenous Engagement at CQUniversity and operates her own private consultancy business. 

Her lived experiences as a Darumbal person living on Darumbal Country and in community with others inform her worldview and approaches to her professional work.
