Career:
Student Wellbeing and Guidance Counsellor

After high school, I enrolled in the Bachelor of Education program at CQUniversity, driven by a desire to make a positive difference in young people's lives while studying close to home in regional Queensland. Graduating with Distinction, my degree provided the core foundation, knowledge, and confidence that enabled me to transition from classroom teaching into specialised roles in inclusion, counselling, and psychoeducational assessment.

Over a two-decade career focused on student wellbeing and inclusion, I have progressed from teaching into Senior Inclusion roles, an Acting Guidance Officer position, and my current role as Student Wellbeing and Guidance Counsellor at Heights College. As a Guidance Counsellor in this capacity, I provide holistic support across students' social, emotional, and educational needs, incorporating counselling, career guidance, and collaborative support with families and educators. I have also pursued postgraduate studies, earning a Master of Education with Distinction.

A major career highlight was co-authoring and publishing my research as first author on supporting student wellbeing during the primary-to-secondary school transition in the Journal of Psychologists and Counsellors in Schools, a Q1 international journal. Outside of work, I am involved in community fundraising for organisations like Cancer Council Queensland and the Heart Foundation. Driven by a passion for inclusion and resilience, I am proud to help young people discover their strengths, build confidence, and foster a sense of belonging.
