William Kirk

Before studying with CQUniversity (then the Capricornia Institute), I was working within Victorian State Government departments, having already earned a Bachelor of Commerce from Melbourne University and achieved registration with the Australian Association of Accountants. I chose to undertake postgraduate management studies at the Institute to build directly upon my existing qualifications and advance my leadership capabilities in public sector administration.

Over a dedicated career spanning from January 1965 to October 2011, I held key finance and administrative management positions across Victorian State Government, Local Government, and the Not for Profit sector. Early in my career, I contributed to vital state government departments, including Mental Health, National Parks, and Road Safety. A major professional highlight was serving as Director of Finance for the original Shire of Gisborne, where I actively guided multi-faceted administrative operations leading up to the Kennett council amalgamations.

Since retiring in late 2011, I have remained deeply involved in my local community. My personal highlights include serving as a long-term member, committee leader, and radio presenter for Sunbury Community Radio Station since 2005. Additionally, I served on primary and secondary school councils from 1987 to 2006—including as council president—and have continuously supported the Sunbury Family History & Heritage Society through executive and treasurer roles since 1994.
