Dr Shahadat Uddin

Before studying at CQUniversity, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and worked in the IT sector. Seeking to expand my capabilities, I selected CQU’s Master of Information Systems for its practical focus and reputation. The analytical foundation and confidence I gained at CQU led me to undertake a PhD in Data Science at the University of Sydney, setting the stage for my academic career.

Since completing my doctorate in 2011, I have advanced from Associate Lecturer to Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney. My work combines teaching, student supervision, and leading interdisciplinary research in artificial intelligence, complex network science, and healthcare analytics. A major focus has been applying AI and large-scale data to improve population health outcomes, understand disease patterns, and build equitable AI systems, backed by major funding bodies like the NHMRC.

A defining career highlight is my continuous inclusion in the Stanford-Elsevier World's Top 2% Scientists list since 2021. With over 170 published articles, I have also received the Dean's Research Award and CQU’s Campus Director’s Leadership Award. Driven by a passion for lifelong learning and mentorship, I take immense pride in supporting the next generation of researchers while using data science to deliver meaningful societal impact.
