Dr Kristie-Lee Alfrey

Facing a progressive health condition that forced her to step away from hairdressing, Kristie-Lee pivoted toward higher education after being a stay-at-home mum. She began her path through CQUniversity's STEPS enabling program before advancing into an Honours degree in Psychology. Driven by a passion for human behaviour, her student experience provided the core exposure to research and mentoring that shaped her future, directly opening doors to advanced academic roles and research leadership at CQU.

Since graduating, Kristie-Lee has built a thriving academic career as a full-time Teaching Scholar, Casual Academic, and Research Coordinator. She served as Laboratory Coordinator for the Motivation of Health Behaviours Lab and ultimately became Director of a student research lab—a major career highlight alongside receiving Early Career Researcher awards. Her CQU studies gave her the specialized psychological knowledge and firsthand insight into the student journey to deliver exceptional support, coursework delivery, and assessment marking.

Kristie-Lee continues to expand her research while teaching and supporting the next generation of scholars. Passionate about health behaviours and student success, she continues to excel in a fulfilling university career that blends impactful research, academic mentorship, and continuous learning.
