Jody Lobegeiger

Before studying with CQUniversity while working at the Department of Human Services, I took advantage of CQU’s flexible distance learning options to transition into secondary education without putting my life on hold. Since graduating, I have built a dynamic career teaching English and Humanities across diverse settings, including regional and distance education, while stepping into leadership, year-level coordination, and pastoral care roles.

Driven by a passion for lifelong learning, I completed a Master of Education while teaching full-time—a major highlight that deepened my understanding of pedagogy and evidence-informed practice. This success paved the way for my current doctoral research, which focuses on teacher professional identity, wellbeing, and sustainability during the early-career years.

Connecting classroom practice with academic research, I actively contribute to teacher education, mentoring, and professional networks across regional Queensland. Balancing family life, high-school teaching, doctoral study, and community engagement has required real resilience, but it remains incredibly rewarding. I am proud to use my dual perspective as a secondary educator and researcher to advocate for positive change, supporting colleagues and helping shape more sustainable, fulfilling career paths for the next generation of teachers.
