Anthony Weber

Before enrolling in the Bachelor of Health (Nursing) at CQUniversity, I was building my career in pre-hospital care and aiming to advance into clinical leadership. CQU’s strong regional footprint, flexible study options, and hands-on health programs made it the ideal choice to integrate higher education with professional practice. My CQU qualifications—including my nursing degree, a Master of Health Science (Research), and a Graduate Certificate in Research—provided the clinical foundation and academic grounding to transition seamlessly from frontline paramedic practice to university leadership.

After graduating, I served as an Intensive Care and Flight Paramedic with the Queensland Ambulance Service and developed the Intensive Care Paramedic Program at QUT. Joining CQU in 2010 as Senior Lecturer and Discipline Lead, I spearheaded the development and launch of the University’s Bachelor of Paramedic Science. I went on to serve as Deputy Dean (Learning and Teaching) across multiple schools and, following the completion of my PhD at Australian Catholic University, stepped into the role of Director of Learning and Teaching Futures at CQU. In this executive capacity, I lead strategic teaching initiatives, drive next-generation curriculum design, and integrate digital pedagogy across dual-sector programs.

A key highlight of my career includes receiving Principal Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy and the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Contributions to Learning and Teaching. Outside my institutional executive role, I maintain active AHPRA registration, publish research on academic integrity and paramedicine education, and contribute to international student outreach and higher-education networks.
