Aftab Ali Khan
Renewable energy and battery storage service leader
After completing my Bachelor of Electronic Engineering in Pakistan, I recognised that management and leadership skills would be essential for progressing in the engineering industry. While I had developed strong technical knowledge through my previous studies, I wanted to understand how engineering projects, teams and business operations are managed.
This led me to study a Master of Management for Engineers with CQUniversity. I chose CQU because the course aligned closely with my career goals and offered a practical, industry-focused approach. The degree helped me develop skills in leadership, project management, strategic planning, communication and business decision-making, which have been valuable in my progression from technical engineering roles into service management and leadership.
Since graduating, I have built my career in Australia's renewable energy and battery storage industry. I joined LG Energy Solution Australia as a Service Engineer and later progressed to Assistant Manager of Service and Grid Engineering. In this role, I supported residential battery systems, managed complex technical and warranty cases, worked closely with installers and industry partners, and helped ensure products met Australian grid and regulatory requirements.
This experience was an important stage in my professional growth and gave me the opportunity to take on greater leadership responsibility while contributing to Australia's renewable energy sector.
I now work as Service Manager at DYNESS Australia, a renewable energy company specialising in battery energy storage solutions. In this role, I lead the AU/NZ technical support and after-sales service team and oversee service operations across Australia and New Zealand. My work involves managing complex technical and warranty cases, developing service procedures, coordinating field service activities and nationwide technical projects, and supporting installers, retailers and customers.
I also work closely with our global headquarters to resolve escalated issues, provide feedback on product performance and improve service outcomes. In addition to the technical aspects of my role, I recruit, train and support team members, allocate responsibilities, monitor performance and prepare reports for senior management.
One of my proudest career achievements has been progressing from a Service Engineer to Assistant Manager at LG Energy Solution Australia, reflecting my professional growth and the trust placed in me to manage complex technical matters. Another significant highlight has been establishing and leading the Australian service team at DYNESS Australia, building local support operations, developing service procedures and coordinating major technical projects across the country.
Alongside my professional role, I have established Wazirs Energy, a developing solar and battery business focused on providing reliable renewable energy solutions and strong after-sales support to Australian customers.
On a personal level, building my career after moving to Australia, becoming an Australian citizen and progressing from an engineering role into national service leadership have been some of my proudest achievements. My journey has been shaped by continuous learning, resilience and a commitment to supporting Australia's transition to clean energy.
I am passionate about renewable energy, emerging technologies and sharing knowledge with others. I enjoy mentoring team members and helping installers and customers better understand battery energy storage systems.
