Leading AI governance and digital transformation in vocational education
Since graduating from CQUniversity with a Master of Information Technology in 2016, I have built my career at the intersection of information technology, education and digital transformation.
Before studying at CQU, I had completed a Bachelor of Computer Engineering and wanted to broaden my knowledge and professional capabilities in information technology. I was particularly interested in developing stronger practical and technical skills that could support a long-term career in the rapidly evolving IT industry.
The Master of Information Technology provided a strong foundation for my career in ICT, helping me develop the technical, analytical and problem-solving capabilities needed to work across complex organisational systems. It also strengthened my confidence to take on increasing levels of responsibility, move into ICT leadership and contribute to technology strategy and digital transformation in the education sector.
Since 2018, I have worked in the Australian vocational education and training sector and currently serve as ICT Manager at Central Australian College. My role has grown from managing core ICT systems and infrastructure to supporting digital transformation, cybersecurity, learning and student management systems, staff capability, technology governance and continuous improvement.
As ICT Manager, I oversee the technology systems and infrastructure that support teaching, learning and business operations. My responsibilities include ICT infrastructure, Microsoft 365, cybersecurity, learning and student management systems, digital resources, system implementation, staff support and technology-related policies and procedures. I also contribute to organisational digital transformation and emerging areas such as Generative AI governance and staff capability development.
One of my key career highlights has been progressing into an ICT leadership role within the Australian education sector and contributing to the implementation and improvement of major digital systems, infrastructure and technology services across a growing education organisation.
Another important milestone has been returning to CQUniversity as a Doctor of Philosophy (Industry) candidate. My research focuses on the integration of Generative AI in Australian vocational education and training teaching practices and assessment design.
I am passionate about sharing my industry and research experience with students, particularly in Generative AI, information technology and digital transformation.
