Zara Costello

My journey with CQUniversity began when I visited an Open Day as a high school student. I had always been passionate about media studies, and after touring the campus, speaking with staff and visiting the digital media facilities, I knew I wanted to continue my studies at CQU.

After completing my Diploma of Digital Media, I decided to continue into the Bachelor of Digital Media. During my diploma, I developed a strong foundation in media studies and discovered that I am most passionate about animation and post-production. I particularly enjoyed the hands-on projects in my units, which allowed me to strengthen my media and post-production skills while building confidence in my creative practice.

One of my proudest achievements has been becoming a PASS Leader at CQU. In this role, I lead group study sessions for students completing units I have previously studied. These sessions help students revise, deepen their understanding of unit content and learn through activities and discussion.

Becoming a PASS Leader has helped me grow personally and professionally by giving me the opportunity to create fun, hands-on activities that support student learning. It is always rewarding to see group activities encourage students to collaborate, communicate and build confidence with their peers.

After completing my bachelor’s degree, I plan to continue building my digital media portfolio and aspire to work as a post-production editor.
