Jo Leveritt is a social justice advocate and human rights lawyer dedicated to improving access to justice and driving systemic reform. She holds an Honours degree in Law, is admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland, and completed a Graduate Certificate in Family and Domestic Violence Practice with CQUniversity. Her approach is informed by more than 25 years in senior human resources and industrial relations roles across private sector and public health organisations, shaping her strategic and people-focused leadership.

In 2021 Jo founded Wide Bay Advocacy, a not-for-profit charity working to promote and defend human rights while influencing laws, policies and community attitudes. The organisation focuses on systemic advocacy to reduce barriers experienced by disadvantaged and marginalised groups.

In 2024 she opened Bundaberg Street Law after a successful pilot. Funded through the Queensland Government’s Keeping Women Safe program, it provides free legal support to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. In 2025 she launched Steps Forward: Child Safety Advocacy Program to assist women navigating domestic violence and child protection systems.

Jo also contributes across community organisations. She served as Human Rights and Safeguarding Team Leader at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brisbane, is Chair of the Advocacy Committee for Zonta Club of Bundaberg Inc, and is an active member of local Rotary and regional women’s advocacy networks. Through her regular newspaper columns and volunteer outreach, she raises awareness and offers practical support.

Her work reflects compassion, clarity and a commitment to lasting social change.
