After completing my studies at CQUniversity Rockhampton, I launched my career as an Assistant in Nursing and have since gained more than four years’ experience in health services. I provide compassionate assistance to patients, prepare care environments and uphold safety measures, supporting both nursing staff and patients in a collaborative and respectful way. My role has also included working as a theatre assistant at Queensland Health, where I prepared operating rooms, maintained equipment and assisted with patient positioning. This experience strengthened my skills in operational efficiency and patient care.

My pathway into healthcare began in Operational Services, working as a cleaning and porterage (wardsperson) officer across Rockhampton’s CQ Health and Hospital Service facilities. These frontline and behind-the-scenes duties are vital to the smooth running of hospitals, creating the conditions for high-quality clinical care. While working in this role, I earned a Certificate III in Health Support Services and later a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance, each step reinforcing my commitment to patient safety and wellbeing.

CQUniversity’s practical, regionally based training allowed me to build a rewarding career close to home while continuing to develop professionally. The blend of study and on-the-job experience has given me the confidence and qualifications to grow within Queensland Health and to keep advancing patient outcomes. I remain passionate about contributing to the health and wellbeing of my community and about supporting hospital teams to deliver excellent care every day.
