Before starting my post-graduate university journey, I worked as a mechanical engineer while searching for a role that truly aligned with my interests. Deep down, I always aspired to become an IT engineer, but due to certain circumstances, I couldn’t pursue that path earlier. Fortunately, CQUniversity gave me a life-changing opportunity by allowing me to change my career field through study. This enabled me to follow my passion for IT and build a foundation in the domain I had always dreamed of. I am forever grateful for letting me pursue my dream.

In 2021, during the global COVID-19 pandemic, I was working as a supermarket team member, which taught me the importance of teamwork, responsibility, and perseverance. However, I realised at this time that I wanted to transition into the IT sector. While continuing in my supermarket role, I began researching IT domains and found myself deeply inspired by cloud computing. Motivated by this, I started studying and eventually secured an internship programme at INCO Academy. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I returned to India and faced a challenging period of three months of unemployment. However, I used this time to prepare diligently for opportunities in the IT field. My efforts were rewarded when I secured a Security Engineer Trainee position.

Initially planned as a six-month trainee programme, my skills and dedication were recognised, and I was offered a permanent role as an Associate Security Engineer. Within a year, I was promoted to Security Engineer. After gaining two years of hands-on experience, I was offered an exciting opportunity to join another organisation, where I was selected for a Lead role in DevOps and Cloud.

In my current role as a Lead in DevOps and Cloud, I focus on automating and optimising infrastructure and deployment processes. My responsibilities include designing and managing scalable, secure cloud infrastructures, building CI/CD pipelines, implementing Infrastructure as Code, and mentoring cross-functional teams. Pursuing a Master’s degree in Information Technology at CQUniversity has been instrumental in shaping my career and enabling me to excel in this dynamic field.
