Damon Laffin

Following my graduation, my career began with working as a commercial lawyer at Miller Sockhill Lawyers for approximately two years. During this period, I launched "The Young Lawyer" Podcast, where I interviewed Principals and Directors of Law Firms, asking them for advice they would give to young lawyers or university students. The podcast ran for around two years, during which I interviewed over 50 people.

As a result of the podcast, I was fortunate enough to collaborate with the College of Law, which involved being part of their marketing campaigns (I’m still featured in their PLT marketing and course guide), as well as speaking in webinars for future lawyers undertaking their practical legal training. 

I subsequently commenced studying a Master of Law through the College of Law, specialising in commercial litigation. Following my employment at Miller Sockhill, I joined Stonegate Legal as a Litigation Lawyer and remained there for approximately two years before opening my own firm, Odyssey Legal, based on the Sunshine Coast. 

Given my unique journey to opening my own firm, I am eager to assist young lawyers and students throughout their journey, as well as share my knowledge.
