My first career leaving high school was in the Royal Australian Air Force, as a communications electronics technician. Following my military time I went on the Jindalee Over the Horizon Radar (JORN) and then into several roles including mining and discreet surveillance. I then decided to have a midlife career crisis and undertook further study.

Following my graduation, I worked closely with the dietitian of a bariatric surgical centre on protocols for strength testing before and after surgery, and how to use phase angle measurements as a patient health marker. After recently moving back to Brisbane however I was lucky enough to land a job with the CSIRO (always a bucket list employer for me). I now work in the CSIRO mineralogy department in the hard rock cutting department. We are currently exploring ways to improve mining capabilities and safety.

My degree gave me an entirely different way to approach any job. The analytical skills I learned during my studies have definitely transferred over to my current job, allowing me to become a solid part of the team.
