A record 20 teams turned out for the FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) Challenge hosted recently by CQUni Gladstone Marina Campus.
CQUni Senior Lecturer Dr Linda Pfeiffer says teams represented primary schools from across the Gladstone region, as well as from Emerald and Clermont.
"The competition tables were set up in the Grand Court and allowed for viewing by spectators from the mezzanine floor," Dr Pfeiffer says.
"Prizes were awarded for robot design, competition and core values. Four teams from the Gladstone event will progress on to the next level in Brisbane."
Students worked in teams to invent, design, fabricate and build robots from scratch, drawing out all forms of interpersonal and intrapersonal communications and testing learner literacies in mathematical, scientific, and technological core curriculum areas.
