Engineering – the perfect fit for Ben

Published:05 August 2015

Meet CQUniversity’s new Chair for the Student Representative Council, Ben Brown.

Ben is an enthusiastic engineering student from CQUni Bundaberg who has high hopes of working in the private or public engineering sector after graduation, leading into a management position.

Along with the hundreds of other CQUni engineering students, Ben is this week celebrating National Engineering Week, reflecting on why engineering has become the dream job for thousands of young people across the country.

“Studying engineering has always been an avenue of interest for me as it suits my skill set. During my high school years I undertook work experience opportunities with several businesses in the region which assisted in confirming my choice of studying engineering.

“However, it wasn't until I finished my first semester of engineering at CQUni that I realized it was a perfect fit for me.”

And CQUni was an obvious choice of university. Ben said CQUni offered a highly reputable engineering course where he could study while living at home in Bundaberg. It was also a bonus that a few mates had also decided to do the same.

“The draw card for me with the Bundaberg campus was the opportunity to stay at home and save money while still having experienced academic mentors and plenty of space for study.”
