Anti-ice campaigner warms to solution pitched by CQUni researcher

Canadian Senator Vernon White has spent almost three hours hearing how a cognitive and behaviour management approach based on 'responsibility theory' could be used as an additional behaviour instrument as a means of trying to help turn the tide against the devastating ice epidemic.
The Senator, who is a visiting fellow with the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, met with CQUni PhD neuroscience candidate and author of Responsibility Theory® Ragnar Purje and Professor Ken Purnell from Rockhampton Campus.
Mr Purje says Senator White's recent Huffington Post article arguing that 'Cracking The Ice Problem Starts In Our Schools' sparked the initial dialogue with the Senator.
He said the Senator's background as a senior police officer of more than 30 years' experience gave him plenty of understanding of the ice scourge.
"There's now a possibility this prominent anti-ice campaigner may visit CQUniversity Rockhampton in March for more in-depth consultations," Ragnar says.
"Responsibility Theory provides a neuroscience and cognitive instrument enabling an individual to take responsibility to change their thinking and behaviour and thus change the direction in their life."
Senator White is keen to have early interventions in schools to help long-term.
