Dream Big Project organiser Jessica Kahl is looking forward inspiring and engaging students at the 2016 Dream Big Event which is being held at the CQUni Bundaberg, Gladstone, Mackay and Rockhampton campuses on February 26.

The Dream Big Event provides youth with the opportunity to develop their understanding of being an engineer and job prospects available in the profession, whilst receiving advice from current engineering students and engineers in the industry.

The Dream Big activities are designed around current engineering courses that assist in developing leadership, teamwork and innovative abilities.

This year, students will have the opportunity to design and build a Pasco trebuchet (a machine used in medieval siege warfare), engineer a structure in the Marshmallow Challenge, program Lego robots in RobotC software, build and test a floating house in the Engineers Without Borders Humanitarian activity and listen to presentations from professional engineers and current engineering students.

Each of the CQUni campus venues have places available for 25 female students from years 10-12. This year's FREE Dream Big Event will be held on Friday, February 26, with lunch provided for participants.

Registration forms, flyers and event details are available on the Dream Big Project’s website under ‘Dream Big Event’. Registrations close on Tuesday, February 23.

In 2015, the Dream Big Project was awarded a ‘High Commendation’ under the Engineers Australia Gender Diversity Awards and the CQUniversity Opal Award for Engaged Service Learning and Excellence in Engagement.

Engineering and Technology School Dean Professor Col Greensill says that "the Dream Big Project’s vision aligns well with the School and University’s engagement agenda and strategic intention".

"In particular, it supports our aim to develop a culture of engaged education, research and service by encouraging active participation in engagement activities that contribute to the promotion of educational, social, cultural and economic well-being of our communities."

* Dream Big Event venues this year are CQUni Mackay Ooralea campus, CQUni Rockhampton North campus, CQUni Bundaberg campus, and CQUni Gladstone Marina campus.
