BSB51415 - Diploma of Project Management

Overview

At a glance

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply project management skills and knowledge. They may manage projects in a variety of contexts, across a number of industry sectors. They have project leadership and management roles and are responsible for achieving project objectives. They possess a sound theoretical knowledge base and use a range of specialised, technical and managerial competencies to initiate, plan, execute and evaluate their own work and/or the work of others.

VET Student Loan Information

VET Student Loans may be available for eligible students in approved Diploma level qualifications. The loan can be used towards Tuition Fees only and does not cover additional expenses such as textbooks, uniforms, equipment, travel, tools, and accommodation or general living expenses. Loan limits or caps may apply for some eligible courses and where a loan limit is reached for a course, students may be required to pay upfront for any remaining units.

Hours of Study

Approximately 535 hours of study time will be involved however, the training duration will depend on the electives and study mode selected.

Possible job outcomes include:  Project manager, Project Coordinator, Project Administrator, Events manager, events coordinator, events administrator, scheduler, planner, procurement, Stakeholder liaison, Change manager. These possible outcomes can be applied across various industries

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this course.  However, it is recommended that students have computer literacy skills to undertake research, access learning resources, participate in on-line forums, lectures/tutorials and develop report writing skills.  Learning MicroSoft Project is also required in the course.  

Students are also required to manage a project, either in the workplace, association, community or personally when undertaking BSBPMG521.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Is what I already know taken into account?

Yes. Your history of study, skills and experience does matter. Consideration is given to your prior life and work experiences as well as formal and informal training. This may be applied using the national standard for Mutual Recognition or through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Documentary evidence will be requested.

Availabilities

Online

This course is available online with teaching support available through discussion forums, email and telephone. Online students require self-motivation and must have 4 - 6 hours per week available for study.

Duration and Dates further information

Each intake has the maximum duration of 20 weeks.  Students have the opportunity to complete their units from that intake earlier based on personal work ethic.  

BSBPMG521- Manage Project Integration has a duration of 40 weeks for students to initiate, plan, execute, control and close a project of choice.  This unit is available in the NOVEMBER intake.

The Queensland Government determines the schedule set by CQUniversity. Additional fees may be charged for printed materials, protective clothing and tools etc. A full copy of all regulations associated with VET fees can be accessed from the Queensland Government Legislation website.

All fees must be paid to finalise enrolment or a payment arrangement entered into. You will be liable for all payments, even if you discontinue enrolment, subject to the Refund Policy. Debt recovery action will be taken to recover outstanding fees. Please select from the following:

  • VET Student Loans
    VET Student Loans will commence from 1 January 2017 and is an interest free Australian Government income contingency loan that assists eligible full fee paying students to pay their Tuition Fees.
  • VET Government funded programs
    The cost of these programs is based on a student contribution fee. A concession may be available in some situations. Additional resource/material costs will vary from program to program.
  • VET fee-for-service programs (full fee paying)
    These are competitively priced full-fee paying programs which do not attract concessions.
