The total amount of time required to complete this micro-credential will be as follows: Online learning content, resources and materials = 20 hrs 3 Day Residential School = 20 hrs Professional Practice Placement = 80-120 hrs Assessment = 5 hrs Total = 125 - 155 hrs

This online micro-credential will enable you to further develop and demonstrate the necessary knowledge and practical skills required of competent Allied Health Assistant through a variety of authentic learning experiences including simulation activities, industry placement and case studies. Depending upon the setting for your work experience, you may be required to follow therapeutic treatment plans and interventions under the supervision of an Allied Health professional. Further, you will be guided to develop a portfolio of evidence that illustrates your capacity to operate as an Allied Health Assistant. Upon the successful completion of this micro-credential, you will be eligible to apply for your Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance VET award.

This micro-credential is also awarded a digital badge and Certificate of Completion which can be shared to your social networks and displayed in your professional portfolio.

Duration:

The total amount of time required to complete this micro-credential will be as follows:

  • Online learning content, resources and materials = 20 hrs
  • 3 Day Residential School = 20 hrs
  • Professional Practice Placement = 80-120 hrs
  • Assessment = 5 hrs

Total = 125 - 155 hrs

  1. Behave professionally and ethically within an Allied Health setting
  2. Demonstrate knowledge, skills and competencies typical of an Allied Health Assistant
  3. Reflect upon the scope of practice of an Allied Health Assistant
  4. Develop a portfolio of evidence relevant for the attainment of the vocational award of Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance.

All assessment tasks are PASS / FAIL competency-based.

This micro-credential is only available to students enrolled in the following courses:

  1. CB84 Occupational Therapy
  2. CB85 Physiotherapy
  3. CB86 Podiatry
  4. CB87 Speech Pathology

Further, students must have successfully completed the following units PRIOR to enrolling in this short course:

  1. ALLH11001 Introduction to Allied Health
  2. ALLH11009 Research Methods for Health Professionals
  3. PSYC11010 Fundamentals of Psychology
  4. BMSC11007 Medical Anatomy and Physiology 1
  5. BMSC11008 Medical Anatomy and Physiology 2

At the successful completion of this micro-credential, students will be eligible to apply for their Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance VET award (conditions apply, see below).

Students must have successfully completed the following units in addition to this short course to be eligible to apply for the Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance:
