HealthX Rural Nursing Scholarship

The Scholarship will provide recognition and financial assistance to one mature student enrolled into CQUniversity Bachelor of Nursing or Graduate Certificate in Nursing (re-entry) through distance education.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to receive The HealthX Rural Nursing Scholarship, an applicant must meet the following criteria:
  • Be enrolled in 2018 into CQUniversity Bachelor of Nursing or Graduate Certificate in Nursing (re-entry) through online study;
  • Be residing or studying in a regional or rural area;
  • A mature aged student, 25 years of age of older.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with prior nursing experience who are looking at re‐registering or obtaining higher qualifications in nursing studies;
  • Not be receiving another Donor Funded** Scholarship.

* Must have a permanent home address in Australia

**Donor Funded: refers to a scholarship which is only available to CQUniversity students, funded by an individual or organisation external to the University (excluding Federal Government funded Commonwealth and Equity Scholarships)

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be assessed on the application form and a written submission of no more than 500 words addressing the following:
  • Career goals and how the scholarship will assist you in achieving your educational objectives;
  • Extracurricular activities – especially community and volunteering activities and demonstration of leadership:
  • Life experiences

Additional Information

As a donor scholarship recipient, you may be approached to assist with positively promoting the CQUniversity Scholarships Program by sharing your experiences as a recipient through media and at events such as Open Day.

Payment of Scholarship

Payment will be made to the successful applicant after Census date of Term 2 2018. Payment will be $3,000 and credited electronically to the student’s nominated bank account.

Supporting Documentation

Applications must include all necessary supporting documents. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Applicants will need to supply the following supporting documentation:
  • Written submission
  • Evidence of academic achievement (examples may include Unofficial transcript (for current university students) or qualifications or academic awards received previously).
  • Evidence of exemplary work/community achievements
  • Resume

How to apply

To apply for the HealthX Rural Nursing Scholarship:
  1. Read the Scholarship Guidelines to check for eligibility and documentation required
  2. Scholarships will open at 9am AEST on 15th June, 2018 and ALL applications must be submitted online by the closing date, 5pm AEST, Wednesday, 11th July, 2018.
  3. Complete a Scholarship Online Application Form, ensuring all supporting documentation is completed and attached as outlined in the Scholarship Guidelines

  4. Complete Applications must be received at the Student Life and Wellbeing Centre, Scholarships Office by 5pm on the closing date.

    Failure to supply requested documents will result in your application being incomplete. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

How will I know the outcome of my application?

Selection of the successful recipients will be determined by a selection panel made of HealthX and CQUniversity representatives.   A scholarship will only be offered where there is an applicant of sufficient merit.  All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their applications as soon as possible after the selection panel meets.
