Events and the SDGs

CQUniversity hosts several events open to the public that are aligned to the themes of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). So if you are interested in getting involved in a CQUniversity initiative, or would like to see some of our projects and initiatives in progress, explore our community education events and activities.   • Social Innovation Series: Starting Good (19-31 March 2018); Big Fish Cairns Young Innovators Weekend (6-8 April 2018); Business Model Canvas for Social Enterprise (18th April 2018); Crowdfunding for Social Enterprise (16 May 2018).
  • Conoco Philips Science experience held annually at CQUniversity Gladstone.
  • QMEA events are hosted on Gladstone campus
  • NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across our many campuses.

CQUniversity participates in outreach activities and collaborations to encourage increased participation by women in areas where they are historically underrepresented. Explore stories of our activities, workshops and projects that occurred in 2018.

  • Dream Big workshop, was hosted in Rockhampton in 2018. This event was designed to inspire teenage girls to strive for careers in the fields of science or technology.
  • Makerspace Project, hosted in Bundaberg, CQUniversity worked with Bundaberg high schools and teachers to pioneer a science meets fashion approach, which gave young women in the junior years of high school the chance to explore design and technology through the creation of wearable art.
  • Women in Agri-Tech project, a project that aimed to create and foster a strong network of female teachers who will become leaders in digital literacy, STEM and entrepreneurship in regional, rural and remote areas.
