Fight Food Waste Cooperative

The student will contribute the ‘Designing effective interventions to reduce household food waste’ project as part of the Fight Food Waste Cooperative Research Centre. As a part of a research team, the successful candidate will get an opportunity to closely interact with an international collaboration including State Governments, Charities and a large supermarket chain in Australia. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide a stipend for a suitably qualified candidate to complete his/her doctoral studies in the area.

Scholarship Value: $ 35,000 annual student stipend ($140,000 in total) plus generous allowance for research expenses

To be eligible for the Scholarship, an applicant must:

  1. have completed a Bachelor Degree with Honours or a qualification regarded as equivalent by CQUniversity, in Marketing or any other relevant field,
  2. be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident of Australia,
  3. be approved for admission and enrolling in, a Doctor of Philosophy in Business at CQUniversity, and
  4. enroll full-time and be an internal candidate at CQUniversity’s Sydney campus (where the principle supervisor is based).

Applications are invited from candidates who have or can demonstrate:

  1. Potential in qualitative and quantitative research,
  2. Abilities to review and critique literature extensively and systematically,
  3. Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with multiple stakeholders including charities, government and industry organization
  4. Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to work systematically, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines,
  5. Well-developed computer skills, including experience with Microsoft office and statistical software.

In addition, passion for contributing to positive social changes, such as reducing food waste, is desirable. The successful applicant must commence their candidature in early 2020. The successful applicant will be based in Sydney and will be required to travel around Australia to engage with stakeholders and present information. S/he will also be required to publish academic papers related to his/her thesis during the period of candidature.
