Destination Australia Scholarship (Doctor of Philosophy)

Destination Australia is an Australian Government funded scholarship program designed to support students to study in regional Australia. The Destination Australia Scholarship (Doctor of Philosophy) is open to new full-time international students commencing in a Doctor of Philosophy degree at CQUniversity Mackay or Bundaberg campus. Our regional campuses like Mackay and Bundaberg, don’t only offer a great quality education, they also offer the companionship of a close-knit community and opportunities to explore iconic natural wonders coupled with a lower cost of living.

Scholarship Value: $30,000 per annum

To be eligible for a Destination Australia Scholarship (Doctor of Philosophy) an applicant must:

  • first complete the RHD Admissions process and receive a Letter of Offer for the Doctor of Philosophy at CQUniversity at either the Mackay or Bundaberg campus. The Principal Supervisor will then need to provide written endorsement to research-scholarships@cqu.edu.au to request that the applicant be provided with a scholarship application form. (Please note, you do not need to accept the admission offer until you have received the outcome of the scholarship request)
  • be new to CQUniversity
  • be commencing in a Doctor of Philosophy degree at CQUniversity Mackay or Bundaberg camps
  • not be receiving any other CQUniversity stipend (living allowance) scholarship.

In addition to the eligibility criteria, successful applicants must maintain residence and internal enrolment at the Mackay or Bundaberg campus for the duration of their degree.
The Destination Australia (Doctor of Philosophy) Scholarship provides a living allowance stipend which is paid to the recipient through the University's payroll system.

The Destination Australia Scholarship will also include an International Excellence Award (100% Tuition Waiver) up to 3 EFTSL.

Applications must include all necessary supporting documents. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applicants will need to supply the following supporting documentation:
  • Completed online Application for Admission (Doctor of Philosophy) Letter of Offer for either the Mackay or Bundaberg campus
  • Completed Destination Australia Scholarship Application 2023

A selection panel, consisting of representatives from CQUniversity will determine the successful applicants. A scholarship will only be offered where there is an applicant/s of sufficient merit. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their applications as soon as possible after the selection panel meets.
