CQUniCares Technology Bursary

The CQUniCares Technology Bursary supports low SES students who, without financial assistance are not able to purchase or repair a computer/laptop or other technologies/software required for their studies.

To be eligible to receive the CQUniCares Technology Bursary, successful applicants must:

  • Identified as low SES and able to demonstrate low personal or family income
  • be enrolled in an undergraduate course as the primary course of study in 2020:
    • Bachelor;
    • Associate Degree;
    • Advanced Diploma (higher education)
    • Diploma (higher education)
  • have demonstrated satisfactory academic progress
  • be enrolled at Census date
  • be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or holder of an Australian Permanent Visa*
  • not be receiving any other CQUniversity Scholarship in 2020.

* Must have a permanent home address in Australia

Applicants will be assessed based on an application form, supporting documentation and personal statement demonstrating a genuine financial need for a CQUniCares Technology Bursary by addressing the following:

  • How would a CQUniCares Technology Bursary assist you with your studies?

For applications seeing assistance with the purchase or replacement of a computer, a successful CQUniCares Technology Bursary will consist of a Toshiba Tecra Notebook package including a satchel, mouse and 3 year warranty, that will be posted to successful applicants.

Options will be discussed with applicants studying engineering, information technology or digital media or students needing assistance with technology other than laptops/computers.

Applicants will need to supply the following supporting documentation:

1. Personal statement addressing the above selection criteria

  • Personal statement should also include any additional information that may assist with the assessment of your application and should demonstrate financial need. Please utilise the statement to explain your personal, financial, living or study situation and how it impacts on your ability to purchase or maintain technology needed for your studies.

2. Quote detailing the specs and inclusions in the price

3. Any specifications suggested by CQUniversity relating to the course technology requirements

4. Evidence of income of applicant and

  • Income for their partners (if partnered)
  • Income for their parents (if under 22 and not deemed ‘independent’ by Centrelink)

Possible required documents for low income evidence:

  • Centrelink Income Statements (if applicable) –
    • for yourself
    • your partner if partnered or
    • parent/s if you are under 22 years of age

  • 3 x current consecutive payslips (if applicable) -
    • for yourself and/or
    • your partner if partnered or
    • parent/s if you are under 22 years of age
  • Latest Notice of Assessment or most recent Tax Return (If you or your partner are in receipt of business or investment income)
  • 3 months of all personal or business bank account statements

Please note: additional documents may be requested if low income is difficult to determine.

Please note a limited number of Bursaries are available. All Bursaries may be exhausted prior to the advertised closing date.

A Bursary will only be offered where there is an applicant of sufficient merit. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their applications as soon as possible.
