CQUniCares Costa Avocado Scholarship
This scholarship will provide recognition and financial assistance to a full-time first year Bachelor of Agriculture student. The selected Scholars will have the opportunity to work at Costa Group during their studies (paid work experience / vacation employment).
Scholarship Value: $15,000 + Oppportunity for paid work experience/vacation employment

To be eligible to receive The CQUniCares Costa Avocado Scholarship an applicant needs to meet the following criteria
- Be enrolled at CQUniversity in, 2020
- Be studying in 1st year of a Bachelor Agriculture
- Be enrolled with a full-time term study load (18 credit points or more)
- Preference will be given to students residing in the Bundaberg region.
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, Permanent Resident or holder of an Australian Humanitarian Visa
- Be enrolled at CQUniversity at Census date of Term 2, 2020
- Not be receiving another CQUniversity Scholarship of similar or higher value
- Career goals and how the Scholarship will assist you in achieving your educational objectives;
- Extracurricular activities – especially community and volunteering activities and demonstration of leadership.
- Life experiences
- Personal qualities, including alignment with the following values: Passion, Sincerity, Accountability, Respect and Determination and also leadership potential; and
- Strength of interest that the applicant demonstrates in completing at least one period of vacation employment ; and
- Any other matter that the selection committee considers to be relevant to the applicant's future success in the horticulture profession.
Ongoing Eligibility Criteria
In addition to the eligibility requirements, the successful applicant must:
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 4.0 each term
- Remain enrolled with a full time term study load as at Census date in Term 2
Additional Information
CQUniversity will connect scholarship recipients directly with the donor’s organisational representative regarding specific details and arrangements for any additional benefits such as paid work experience, vacation employment or other professional development opportunities. Costa Group will enter into a direct agreement with the recipient.
Expectations of Recipients
As a donor scholarship recipient, you may be approached to assist with positively promoting the CQUniversity Scholarships program by sharing your experiences as a recipient through media and at events such as Open Day.
Payment of the Scholarship
The successful applicant is required to enter their current financial institution details (banking details) into their MyCentre for payment to occur. This must be done prior to Census date Term 1 2020 to avoid delays. Payments will be credited electronically to the student’s nominated bank account.
Payments of $2,500 will be made to the successful applicant in Week 6 of Term 1 and 2 following final post Census date eligibility checks.

Complete Applications must be received at the Student Life and Wellbeing Centre, Scholarships Office by 5 pm AEST on the closing date.
Failure to supply requested documents will result in your application being incomplete. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
A selection panel, consisting of representatives from CQUniversity and Costa Group will be formed to determine the successful applicants. A scholarship will only be offered where there is an applicant of sufficient merit.
