Mr Amod Rijal and Dr Deepa Rijal

Adip Rijal, the first child of Mr Amod Rijal and Dr Deepa Rijal was born on 5th July 1994 in Nepal.

He came to Australia along with his parents as an eight-year-old child to live permanently in November 2002. He had completed his high school from Rockhampton Grammar School in 2011. After completing high school, he

commenced his Bachelor of Engineering (Co-op) and Diploma of Professional Practice in 2012 at CQUniversity, Rockhampton. In the course of one and half year of study, Adip transferred his Engineering study in the University of Technology, Sydney in the same program. He graduated in Bachelor of Engineering (Co-op) and Diploma of Professional Practice in Civil Engineering in 2016 scoring a GPA of 3/4. While studying, Adip had gained experience of working as an Undergraduate Engineer in renowned engineering organisations such as John Holland, AECOM and Randwick City Council. After completion of his degree, he joined BMD as a Graduate engineer and Bouygues Construction as a site engineer. From March 2018 onwards, he was working as a site Engineer in Downer and was involved Paramatta Light Rail Tendering and Berry to Bromederry Upgrade Project. In this way, Adip had gained experience in multiple domains in civil engineering and had achieved quite significant milestones by the young age of 24. Adip was always cheerful, humble, and a responsible citizen. He was a people’s person and could get along well with people from all age groups. He was very much liked by his family, peers, employers, and work colleagues. He loved to travel to different places and try different cuisine from different countries. He had planned to travel 30 different countries by the age 30. But unfortunately, he had travelled only 16 different countries before he passed away.

Adip was on his way to attend a family event in Nepal in Feb 2019. He decided to take a journey break in Dubai for quick tour of the country as he was very much fascinated by the great progress of the city. But unfortunately, Adip passed away due a sudden tragic accident in Dubai on 10th February 2019. In summary, a vibrant, energetic, cheerful and beautiful soul was taken away instantly while he was enjoying the best time of his life at one of his favourite places of travel. Adip’s parents have decided to establish a scholarship so that a deserving young student can get some assistance to fulfil their dream to complete their study. Adip’s Mother, Dr Deepa Rijal is an alumnus of CQU who had completed her PhD in 2016 and Bachelor of Nursing in 2018 and would like to initiate this scheme to support students in financial hardship.
