Course Options

Under CQUniversity’s Start TAFE Now, subsidised (fee-free) and non-subsidised courses are offered

SUBSIDISED COURSES

The Queensland Government’s VET in Schools (VETiS) program is fee-free for students. Course specific costs may be applicable, an example would be high vis clothes and safety boots for trade courses.

**CHC22015 - Certificate II in Community Services (Community Services specialisation) has only a February intake. ***MEM20413 - Certificate II in Engineering Pathways (Marine Focus) is only available in Mackay.

NON-SUBSIDISED COURSES (DOMESTIC STUDENTS)*

CQUniversity offers the following non-subsidised courses for 2023 as part of the Start TAFE Now program, this means that you will be charged the full course cost :

*These courses are full fee-paying courses and are not on the Queensland Government Priority Skills List. If fees are applicable to your studies, you may be eligible for a payment plan to manage the costs of your studies.

COURSES OPENING IN LATE 2022

The below courses are superseded, the updated courses will be available for application in late 2022 for 2023.

CQUniversity offers the following CRICOS approved courses to international students as part of the Start TAFE Now program. You will be charged the International student full course cost.

Students currently enrolled in a high school are only able to apply for the courses listed above.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Students undertaking Start TAFE Now, can select to study a VET in Schools course funded by the Queensland Government’s VET Investment budget. Students can complete one employment stream qualification at the certificate I or II level. Many of these courses are offered by CQUniversity.

For qualifications at a certificate III level or higher the Qld Government encourage students to do so through a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship (SAT)—funding for a SAT is available under the User Choice program.

If you have not completed any vocational education courses previously then you will be eligible to access the VET in Schools (VETiS) funding should your course be on the subsidised course list.

You must be enrolled in a Queensland secondary school to be eligible to access the funding.

If you are not eligible for VET in Schools (VETiS) funding or your course is not on the subsidised course list, then you will be required to pay full fees for your course. If you are studying at the diploma level, you may be eligible to access a VET Student Loan.

For students who have previously studied a vocational education course your application will be assessed to determine if you have previously used your funding. When you enrolled with your previous provider, they would have provided a confirmation of enrolment which would have noted how your study was funded.

If you are not eligible for VET in Schools (VETiS) funding or your course is not on the subsidised course list, then you will be required to pay full fees for your course. If you are studying at the diploma level, you may be eligible to access a VET Student Loan.
