Auditions for our performing arts courses now are open. In-person auditions can be requested at our Cairns, Mackay and Townsville campuses and will be arranged by appointment where possible. Or you can audition from anywhere in Australia by choosing to audition online. Our helpful auditions guidelines listed within each course option below will provide you with helpful tips and information on how to prepare for your audition.

How To Apply For An Audition

Applying for entry into one of CQUniversity’s creative and performing arts courses is a four-step process.

STEP 1:Complete and submit a course application to the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC). QTAC is the key body that offers student places into Queensland universities, whether you wish to study on campus or online.
STEP 2:Register for an audition (or interview for the Visual Arts major in the Bachelor of Creative Arts) by completing the online audition form. Ensure you complete all boxes marked with a red asterisk (*) so we can process your application.
STEP 3:Prepare supporting documentation in readiness for your audition. Supporting documentation including your artistic resume and any medical certificates required for your chosen course can be found in the auditions guidelines.
STEP 4:Audition for your course by attending an audition in person, or uploading your audition online.

Available to study online or on campus in Mackay, the Diploma of Music offers instrumental tuition through CQUniversity’s Regional Conservatorium partnerships in New South Wales and at CQUniversity Mackay.

Auditions Process

Once you have completed your QTAC application and registered for an audition by completing the online form on this page, our team will get in touch with you to finalise details of your audition or interview (if you are applying for Visual Arts major in the Bachelor of Creative Arts).

For in-person audition requests at one of our campus locations, our team will endeavour to arrange an audition time with you.

To audition online, you must ensure:

  • Your audition is filmed in an appropriate rehearsal or performance space so you get the best quality image and sound.
  • You are fully visible in the camera frame and your hand (instrumentalists) and torso (singers) are clearly visible.
  • You begin the audition by giving your name, age and state why you want to study at CQUniversity Australia.
  • If you upload your audition to a YouTube channel you must email the link to the audition administrator. All audition materials must meet the same requirements as in-person auditions.

Our innovative Bachelor of Creative Arts is available to study on campus at CQUniversity Cairns. Located right in the middle of the vibrant Cairns CBD, our multi-million dollar campus will provide you with purpose-built creative facilities to develop and polish your performance skills through practical studios, industry seminars, theory studies, personal reflection and hands-on educational opportunities.


CQUniversity is home to the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music (CQCM), a purpose-built facility at CQUniversity Mackay Ooralea for courses in music and theatre. This facility cements our commitment to being a major performing arts training centre that attracts students from all states of Australia and overseas. You will work with top industry professionals and world-class staff who provide individual tuition, opportunities to hone your theatre craft through fully staged music theatre and drama productions, touring and concert opportunities in music and theatre, as well as access to state-of-the-art performance facilities and convenient student residential accommodation.


Study Visual Arts in the Bachelor of Creative Arts on campus at CQUniversity Rockhampton and expand your talents encompassing drawing fundamentals and contemporary art practices.


CQUniversity Townsville now offers the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Acting) (Contemporary Dance) and Bachelor of Music (Performance) on campus. In the Bachelor of Music (Performance), you will have on campus tutorials in various music studies units while also developing your solo music performance skills with highly specialised music staff via video technology. With new campus facilities, strong ties to performing arts networks, instruction from top local teachers and opportunities to perform you’ll be set for a career in creative and performing arts.
